I try to keep PlanetAshland as political free as I can. I don’t want to alienate anyone or a cause too much controversy, although I know that’s bound to happen. I’ve been running the site since April of this year. I have to admit, I sometimes feel like chucking the whole project. When I first started the site a lot of people were suspicious of…well, I don’t know what…causing a rift in the musical community. Some accused me of “picking sides” to a war I didn’t even know was going on. I felt like I was living in northern Florida again and being called a ‘damn Yankee.’ Needless to say, there are some people who want nothing to do with the site, which is fine because I found them incredibly rude. I deal with enough of that in my real job.
It’s really nice when people try to keep me updated with events and activities. I spend a lot of time visiting individual websites (around 80), walking around town reading flyers, checking the paper (which is often unreliable). I always like to get my info ’straight from the horses’ mouth. I want the site to be as accurate and updated as possible because I know, personally, how much I loathe finding out an event is canceled, or changed, or long expired.
